The Strongest Woman in the World

When Bison and his troops overtake a nuclear power plant in China, Guile and a team of Street Fighters move in to defeat the terrorists and stop Bison from blowing the place up. It's more than a simple mission for Chun-Li though as memories of her father's death at the hands of Bison push her into breaking orders to crush Bison herself and avenge her father.

Outside the plant, Bison's soldiers spy on a guard and then take him out. Blasting the door down with their lasers the troops move inside and take all the staff hostage, and prevent them from setting off a alarm. Bison suddenly appears at the top of the stairs and all the scientists just look at him.

Meanwhile Guile is busy looking at a picture of his ex-wife, when a sudden knock on the door and the sound of someone running away makes him check outside. He finds a code for him to go visit Escher. Later on Escher informs Guile that Bison has taken over the plant and is demanding $10,000,000 by tomorrow night or he'll blow it up and kill thousands of people. Officially, the Chinese government is prepared to give the money to Bison, but unofficially the Street Fighters are to move in and take out the terrorists. Guile gets his team of Chun-Li, Blanka and Cammy together, but at first Chun-Li doesn't want to go. Seconds later she changes her mind though and they set off.

In the jet Chun-Li has a nightmare where she sees the death of her father again at the hands of Bison. Bison and his troops attacked her father's village, and all the people there were not putting up a fight accept him. Bison comes along and beats him up before using a move Bison calls an "energy burst" to seemingly kill him. Chun-Li then wakes up just as the Street Fighter's jet arrives at it's destination. Guile, Blanka and Chun-Li parachute out whilst Cammy continues to fly the plane.

Everyone lands, and after having to get Blanka down from a tree he has landed in, Guile spies on the perimeter guards from a distance, then the three Street Fighters move in and take out all the troops quickly. They then move inside the plant only to be greeted by a laser spewing robot.

The robot misses everyone though as they split up and surround it. Guile and Chun-Li throw off some projectiles which destroy it, but then another robot appears and this one is much bigger. Blanka tries to do his rolling attack on it but it shoots the ceiling and traps Blanka under some rubble. The robot then fires missiles at Chun-Li and Guile but misses, and again Guile and Chun-Li throw projectiles which stun the robot. Blanka slams straight into the robot, causing it's left arm to completely fall off and then the robot crashes to the floor, and then explodes.

Bison is tracking the Street Fighters via the plant's security cameras and traps them in a room. The room starts to fill with gas but Chun-Li does a Spinning Bird Kick which sucks all the gas up and makes it vanish, oddly. Guile throws a sonic boom to smash down part of a wall and the three run out unharmed.

They break down another door leading to the plant's monitor room, but Bison has left. Suddenly Bison appears on the view screens and tells them that he has armed the detonators and will explode them. Chun-Li then destroys the screens and Guile says Bison must be bluffing as if he did destroy them, he'd die in the blast too. They split up looking for the reactor core room when Chun-Li thinks she sees Bison. When she stops responding to Guile's communicator, he and Blanka move in to find her. Meanwhile Chun-Li kicks down a door and lo behold, Bison appears.

After some trash talk between the two (including a classy line by Bison) Chun-Li throws a fireball which misses Bison but hits the ceiling instead. Rubble falls down and seemingly traps and possibly kills Bison, but suddenly he gets up and fades slightly. Guile and Blanka arrive on the scene and it's revealed that the Bison Chun-Li was fighting was just a hologram and not the real thing. Blanka finds that the explosives have been set and they need to stop Bison from detonating them.

Guile calls up Cammy to bring down a hovercraft thing and also bring some scanning equipment. Inside the hovercraft the Street Fighters use the scanners to locate where Bison is now hiding. Cammy finds out where Bison now is and as they head towards the point they are attacked by a barrage of lasers.

The hovercraft gets hit forcing the Street Fighters to eject. Cammy runs across a bridge which connects from the ground to the base and uses her Cannon Drill attack to take out the robot driver of an advancing tank, which then crashes and explodes. The Street Fighters then run into Bison's base only to be met by...

... Zangief and a few guards. After Zangief's single awful line of dialogue Guile flash kicks him and Blanka, Chun-Li and Cammy defeat all the other guards. Chun-Li spots Bison and leaps up after him, and attempts to hurt him with her fireballs. Bison manages to block of avoid them though and then uses his powers to keep Chun-Li moving and eventually some wall falls on her. Bison runs off but Chun-Li gets up and gives chase. Outside Bison is about to leave in a fighter plane when Chun-Li catches up and says she'll throw a fireball to destroy the plane's fuel tank and destroy Bison.

Bison says to Chun-Li that she should think of how many lives will be lost for her to take her revenge. Chun-Li tells Bison to giver her the detonator which he does, surprisingly. Bison then blasts off for a clean getaway just as the other Street Fighters meet up with Chun-Li.

Guile tells Chun-Li that her father would have been proud of her for what she did today. Later on Chun-Li visits her father's grave, and then tells Guile that Bison was right and that she was weak. Guile tells her that that isn't true and what she did proved that she is the strongest woman on the world.

The animators really went to town with Bison for this episode. He actually looks quite menacing in the opening scene, his appearance here can be compared to his appearance in the Street Fighter II anime. Examples here, here, here and here. They also gave him completely white eyes (apart from when they turn red), most of the time they are black and don't look as good.

What's up with Chun-Li this episode? Her attitude for destroying Bison is much more aggressive here than in any other episode. She certainly wasn't like this in "The Adventure Begins".

Also, what on earth's up with Chun-Li whenever she throws a projectile? She yells out "FIREBALL!" in this episode, it gets pretty ridiculous when she says it three times in a row. What she says changes in later episodes.

When Bison throws Chun-Li the detonator, why doesn't she destroy Bison's plane with her fireballs? It takes him ages to get the plane to launch and she had the perfect chance to hit it with her fireballs, but instead, she just doesn't move.
