Four Warriors Come Out Of The Sky
It's the year 2011 and after the Matrix's energy and wisdom was released in The Return of Optimus
Prime, Cybertron's mother computer, Vector Sigma, has returned to a neutral state of balance. And of course, this means the Decepticons can abuse it to freely use their space bridge and transport themselves to Shockwave's old base of operations. Galvatron leads his troops and explains about the computer, saying that if they take it over they can get it to help them and rule Cybertron once more. With their orders given the Decepticons move out.
Meanwhile Spike and Carly are having some tea when they find themselves under attack. Rushing into the main room where most of the Autobots are, they find that the Decepticons have returned and started an all out assault. Spike decides to contact the Autobot base on Athenia whilst the Dinobots and Technobots scramble to fight back against the Decepticons.
At the Autobot base, Optimus Prime asks how the Decepticons could have gotten onto Cybertron so easily. Hound suggests that when the energy was released from the matrix to destroy the hate plague, it caused an error to happen in Vector Sigma. Optimus is concerned that if the Decepticons take over Vector Sigma, the Autobots will be in a lot of trouble.
Just then Spike sends a transmission asking for more Autobots to be sent to Cybertron. Optimus decides to go and takes along Jazz and the Aerialbots, and tells Spike to evacuate and head for Athenia, whilst telling Hot Rod to take over here whilst he's gone.
As the battles continue on Cybertron we get to see Mindwipe's main skill he uses a lot throughout the series -his ability to cast a spell which somehow manages to put other robots to sleep. Using it to get past a Autobot squad led by Grimlock, Galvatron is pleased until he sees that Skullcruncher has been hit by it too, so Galvatron calls him an idiot and stomps on him to get him back up.
On Earth, the reinforcements heading to Cybertron have been blocked off by a Decepticon squad. A huge firefight breaks out between the two sides but is momentarily stopped by a new character introducing himself.
Sixshot, the Decepticon Earth commander, reveals himself and says that the Autobots have no hope against him. After briefly tussling with Ultra Magnus the
two sides start firing at each other again.
Meanwhile Danny wants to go to Cybertron so he can try and fix Vector Sigma, so he and Wheelie decide to go to the Autobot base and use the space bridge to get there. However, their plan takes a nasty turn for the worst when they run into the gigantic Trypticon, who storms after them. However, Wheelie has the idea of crossing a bridge and then taunting Trypticon and telling him to come after them.
And because Trypticon is a bit of a dim-witted moron, he tries to step on the bridge which of course quickly breaks under his tremendous weight, sending him plummeting into the river below and letting Danny and Wheelie continue unharmed.
Back at the Earth battle Ultra Magnus and Sixshot are fighting each other but Sixshot gets the advantage and tries to tear Magnus' head off, but the Trainbots arrive and save his life thanks to a well placed flying kick by Shouki. The Autobots head back to Autobot city so they can use their space bridge and head to Cybertron, but Sixshot and the other Decepticons give chase.
The Decepticons ambush the Autobots, so Ultra Magnus tells the Trainbots to continue to Autobot city whilst he, Prowl and Sideswipe take on the Decepticons. The Trainbots take off whilst the other Autobots fight back.
The Trainbots are chased by the Constructicons who manage to shoot them down, and another firefight between the two teams begins. It's a short fight however thanks to Metroplex showing up and blasting the Constructicons back whilst giving the Trainbots a lift to Autobot City. As this is happening Magnus and the other Autobots manages to defeat the remaining Decepticons, and so head to the City as well.
The Trainbots finally get to use the space bridge and head for Cybertron, unaware that Wheelie and Daniel have followed then. As they all arrive on Cybertron the battle is still raging on although the Autobots have had their forces bolstered by the arrival of the Trainbots, the Aerialbots, Optimus Prime, Jazz, Springer, Broadside and Sandstorm. Galvatron says they need to take over Vector Sigma quickly and to continue fighting.
Meanwhile Spike, Carly, Kup and Blurr have gone to Athenia. Kup is surprised that Optimus Prime has gone to Cybertron, and he and Hot Rod discuss how he won't be able to calibrate Vector Sigma without the matrix, which he doesn't have at the moment due to it recharging in an unknown location. Just then Carly points out a blip on a monitor which is heading towards Cybertron, but they can't tell what it is.
On Cybertron Daniel wants to go to Vector Sigma so he can try and fix it but he has a run in with the Predacon Tantrum. Thanks to Shouki showing up though he is saved and Tantrum gets rammed. tells Daniel to return to Earth as it's far too dangerous for him to stay here.
Back on Athenia Kup suddenly brings up a pointless old story about how four million years a go the fierce fighting on Cybertron between the Autobots and Decepticons lead to many Transformers fleeing from the planet to find somewhere else to live. Kup wonders if such a thing will happen again, although Spike basically tells him that it's no good thinking about the past as it won't help them with their current problems.
Blurr breaks things up nicely by alerting everyone to the fact that they can now get a decent look at whatever it is the radar picked up earlier. It appears to be a ship of some kind but they have no idea if it's friend of foe. Leaving Kup in charge, Hot Rod decides to head back to Cybertron.
Galvatron is still fighting away but the arrival of the Autobot triple changers means that Optimus Prime now finally has a chance to get to Vector Sigma, leaving the rest of the Autobots to keep fighting.
However a group of Decepticons manage to get to the outside of the access way to Vector Sigma, and despite the efforts of the Throttlebots and Dinobots they are all put to sleep my Mindewipe's hypnosis, leaving it all clear for the Decepticons to go through.
Galvatron shows up and praises Mindwipe and says that they can now take Vector Sigma. Before they can enter though that ship we saw earlier shows up and we finally get to see what the name of this episode is all about...
...and four warriors jump out of the ship. Weirdwolf recognises them and Galvatron demands them to introduce themselves, so they do. From left to right we have Hardhead, Chromedome, Highbrow and Brainstorm: the Autobot headmasters.
Cromedome says it's time to finish this and challenges the Decepticon headmasters to a battle, which they agree to. The episode ends with them squaring each other off whilst the narrator asks who are these new warriors?
One of the nice things about this episode is that we get to see a few characters who weren't in the previous US seasons for quite a while, including Hound, Sideswipe and... Prowl?! Yes, Prowl, a.k.a guy that got killed rather horribly in the movie, is alive and well in
Headmasters. This is due to Japan not getting the movie until 1989, and so the writers of
Headmasters had no idea that some characters had been killed off. However, just to make things even more confusing, in the Japanese dub of the season 3 episode Dark Awakening Prowl is listed among the dead Autobots in the Autobot mausoleum spaceship. My verdict? A visit from the good ship USS Cock-up.
There seems to be some trouble with the Autobot and Decepticon teams at the start of the episode. When Galvatron states their mission, Hun-Gurrr is missing from the Terrorcon team. The Predacons only have
three of their guys instead of the usual five. The Combaticons are also missing a couple of members. Most of them show up later though. When the Decepticons first start attacking Cybertron, Scattershot is missing from the Technobot team.
