Operation Cassette

Soundwave was killed in battle with Blaster, but as we saw in the second episode his head was taken by Laserbeak. At the Decepticon base on Charr, a new body has been created for Soundwave and his old head is attached to it.

The chamber the new Soundwave is in has energy blasted through it, whilst all of Soundwave's cassette's watch on anxiously to see if the process has worked. The narrator explains that Zarak has used his technology to bring Soundwave back from the dead and give him a new body. With the energy transferal complete, the chamber opens and out steps...

Soundblaster.

Soundblaster reports to Galvatron, who explains that he has taken the trouble of having him restored so he must serve him well. Galvatron then shows Soundblaster his latest creation, called the "Madmachine", which they are going to put to the test. Galvatron has it sent to Sixshot via the space bridge so they can start the test phase.

Sixshot has Trypticon move out so they deliberately get picked up on Autobot sensors. Ultra Magnus sends Metroplex out to intercept and the two giant robots fight each other, but the fight doesn't last long as Trypticon doesn't put up much of a fight and loses deliberately.

And that's because the madmachine appears after burrowing up through the Earth and moving up to Metroplex. Ultra Magnus wonders what it could be but then it blasts Metroplex with lasers, but these lasers start to shut down Metroplex's systems, leaving him open for Trypticon to smash into him and knock him down. With the test being a complete success, the Madmachine is out of energy so Galvatron tells Sixshot to pull out so they can recharge it and then send it to Cybertron. Meanwhile Ultra Magnus and Jazz start to fix Metroplex and try to find out what just happened.

Ultra Magnus reports to Rodimus Prime about the Madmachine which can disrupt computer circuitry. Kup wonders why the Decepticons didn't finish off Metroplex there and then but Rodimus suggests that they were merely testing it and that their real target is Cybertron, specifically the Vector Sigma computer. The Autobot Headmasters show up and say they'll go to Charr and destroy the machine, but Rodimus says no and that they need to find out more about this new weapon, as in it's weak point. Rodimus says he'll send out the Autobot cassettes.

The Autobot cassettes report to Rodimus but say they can't obey his orders as without Blaster they have no confidence in their abilities. The Autobot Headmaster jerks call them all cowards but Daniel defends them and they run off. Rodimus says he'll go and talk to them and after finding them he reveals a surprise: Fortress is working on a way to bring Blaster back to life! So with everyone happy again everything is hunky-dory.

Everyone meets up with Fortress who explains that a new body has been created for Blaster on planet Master and he has it beamed through to Cybertron. The anxious Autobots watch as the new Blaster steps out of the chamber, and for the first time we see...

Twincast.

Rodimus fills in Twincast about the whole Madmachine situation and tells him to head for Earth via the space bridge and to find out more information about how it works. In the meantime, Rodimus has the Autobot Headmasters and Throttlebots sent to defend Vector Sigma for the sure to be attacking at any moment Decepticons. Twincast arrives on Earth and meets up with the Autobot triple-changers, who say they'll buy him some time to infiltrate Trypticon.

The Autobot triple-changes head straight for Trypticon where there Decepticon counterparts appear and an air battle takes place. Meanwhile Twincast and his cassettes make there way to Trypticon, only to be spotted and pinned down by fire from the Combaticons.

Thanks to Superion showing up at the best possible time though the Combaticons have their attention drawn away from Twincast and his cassette robots, who run to Trypticon and blast their way inside. Meanwhile the Madmachine is sent to Cybertron.

Guarded by the three Decepticon Headmasters, the Madmachine makes it's way towards Vector Sigma, but fire from the Autobots forces the Decepticon Headmasters to split up and leave the Madmachine on it's own. Chromedome tells the Throttlebots to go and destroy the Madmachine whilst they take on the Decepticon Headmasters.

So off the Throttlebots go, led by Goldbug, and find the Madmachine, only to find that the armour for it is so thick that their weapons don't do enough damage and it ends up blasting them all with it's beams, leaving them all open to attack.

Which is where the Decepticon Headmasters come in, having managed to escape their Autobot counterparts. Most of the Throttlebots stand around being useless and getting beaten up until Goldbug regains his senses and gets the Throttlebots to help each other out and fight back against the Decepticons.

Back on Earth Twincast enters a room and scares Sixshot off, and then he and his cassette robots try to find out any information they can on the Madmachine. Eject finds and uses a computer which plays back a audio log from Galvatron, who explains that the Madmachine is actually being sonically-controlled by Soundblaster on Charr. Learning that his old rival has also been bought back to life, Twincast reports to Rodimus that he is going to Charr to destroy the sonic-controller. He uses the Decepticon space bridge to get there, and somehow manages to blast all six of the Constructicons out of the way before doing so.

At the Decepticon base on Charr, Twincast outguns all of Soundblaster's cassette robots and finds the room where Soundblaster himself is controlling the Madmachine whilst Galvatron and Cyclonus watch the battle on a viewscreen. Twincast yells out and Soundblaster transforms into his robot mode. Twincast introduces himself and says he's going to destroy the sonic-controller, having found that it is in Soundblaster's chest compartment after using his sensors to find it.

Galvatron is of course alerted to Twincast's presence and Cyclonus starts firing, but Twincast dodges his shots and shoots Soundblaster in the chest, which makes the sonic-controller shoot out. With one shot, Twincast obliterates the sonic-controller device which explodes, rendering the Madmachine completely useless.

With his mission complete, Twincast runs off before Galvatron and the others can stop him. Back on Cybertron, the Madmachine starts firing wildly all over the place, so Chromedome and Hardhead realises that now is there chance to destroy it. Blasting it with their lasers, the Madmachine is blown up and destroyed. The three Decepticon Headmasters retreat leaving the Autobots victorious.

The Autobots later all meet up again and Chromedome says he had no idea that it was Twincast who helped them destroy the Madmachine. Arcee says that Twincast isn't back yet only for him then to appear, with Daniel welcoming him back and calling him Blaster, but Twincast reminds him of his name change. Everyone laughs whilst Rodimus ends the episode by thinking to himself that he will continue to fight the Decepticons and defeat them.

The whole point of killing Blaster and Soundwave only to have them bought back to life just two episodes later was to plug the new toys. The new toys looked exactly the same as the old ones, only coloured differently and - get this - they could hold TWO cassettes in their chests instead of one! Wow!
