A Mystery?! The Deception of the Base Bombs

Once again cursing his own troops, Deszaras is simply not that happy and is fed up with Leozack's failures. Even though he has a new plan, Deszaras doubts that it will be any good and just tells him to go and get on with it.
 

Meanwhile the Autobots are on the look out for any Decepticon activity but come up with nothing, despite the Multiforce being out on patrol. Star Saber doesn't mind it being quiet though as he's got to attend a conference on Planet V, and after the Rescue team clean up the V-Star, he heads out leaving the other Autobots to deal with the Decepticons. But since Victory Leo is here, they shouldn't have any problems.
 

Jan thinks that they will be bored since there are no signs of the enemy, but Blacker has some chores for them to do and gets him and the Rescue team to clean up Shuttle base. Jan and Holi are about to clean Galaxy Shuttle when they almost die thanks to them being stupid idiots, but they then notice that it seems Star Saber is on his way back already.
 

Star Saber has postponed the conference and returned to Earth after intercepting a transmission from Deszaras, who said that bombs have been planted in Shuttle base which will destroy it completely unless the Autobots find them first. The Autobots split up to start looking for the bombs and Holi tells Victory Leo about the situation. Laster and Blacker find a small bomb which explodes before they can deactivate it.
 

Victory Leo heads inside and finds Star Saber looking inside a computer. His sudden entrance makes Star Saber jump and gets electrocuted until Victory Leo pulls him out and asks him what he was doing. He says that he was just looking for bombs but he couldn't find any in there and so heads off to look in other places in the base.
 

As the others look for the bombs another one explodes in the command room, destroying it. The Autobots get there and all they can do is keep searching for the other bombs although they have no idea where they could be in the base. Victory Leo then shows up and suddenly says that he thinks that the supreme commander may be a fake! Naturally all of the others say that this is a stupid theory and that he must be the real thing, as he came back to warn them about the bombs and help search for them.
 

Holi and Jan go off to tell Star Saber that another bomb has exploded in the command room, and find him about to open a door only to suddenly stop and turn around. He tells them to go and find the "unification manual", which contains the data on how Star Saber and Victory Leo unite, for him as it may be in danger with all these bombs going off and they need to prevent it from being destroyed. They run off to get it and find that the door to the room it's locked away in has already been broken, so they run inside to check of the manual is still there as a shadowy figure watches them.
 

The manual is thankfully still in place however, and Holi takes it. He doesn't keep a hold of it for very long though as Star Saber walks into the room and takes it off him, saying that it would have been dangerous if the Decepticons had stolen it off them. They then hear another large bang go off behind them and run up to find a whole corridor on fire.
 

Star Saber grabs Jan and runs out through the flames to Victory Leo as Holi calls on the rest of the Rescue team to put out the fire. Outside the base Victory Leo drops off Jan as Pipo sees to him as he inhaled some smoke. As he does that Victory Leo transforms and says that there seem to have been a lot of explosions ever since Star Saber returned.
 

He doesn't get to take this any further though as the other Autobots arrive and suddenly Hellbat's voice can be heard. Hellbat says that the bombs that have gone off so far are a example of what's still to come, as there is an even larger bomb inside the base which he has the detonator for. The only way to stop him from blowing them all up is if Star Saber heads to the Incan ruins on his own. Star Saber says that he must go to stop the Decepticons, but tells Victory Leo to follow him secretly, and they both head out. The other Autobots can only wait at the base and hope that Victory Leo can prevent Star Saber from being injured or even killed by the Decepticons.
 

Star Saber arrives at the ruins and finds a group of Decepticons waiting for him, and tells them that he came alone as promised. But they see right through it and Gaihawk blasts part of a structure, revealing Victory Leo.
 

Victory Leo then does something surprising as he transformers and grabs Star Saber! He tells the Decepticons to shoot but they have stopped firing as he predicted. Blacker, Laster and Braver then arrive and can't believe what Victory Leo is doing as Star Saber manages to break free and says that Victory Leo must be malfunctioning as he tried to kill him.
 

Failing to convince the other Autobots that this Star Saber is a fake, Blacker's team aim their guns at him and are about to fire when someone starts laughing. Everyone turns to see another Star Saber at the top of a temple, who says that it was very devious of the Decepticons to impersonate him. The Star Saber on the ground says that he's no fake as he has the unification manual, but temple Star Saber...
 

... tells Victory Leo that it's time to unite and then transform into Victory Saber, who slashes the other Star Saber with his saber blade revealing that it was really Leozack in disguise. Leozack can't quite believe it as he was seconds from seeing Victory Leo scrapped and instead tries to grab the manual but is stopped by Victory Saber.
 

Leozack then unites with the others as they transform into Liokaiser, but even he cannot stand up to the power of Victory Saber, who destroys his weapon and forces him back to the top of the temple. Liokaiser tells him not to forget this and then runs inside as Victory Saber follows him, but the temple starts to collapse shortly afterwards and he has to fly out before he gets buried alive under the rubble.
 

The temple falls apart but Victory Saber manages to fly away. Later on at Shuttle base, the Autobots find out that there was no super bomb Hellbat has talked about as Victory Leo explains that he knew early on about the fake Star Saber as the other Autobots say sorry for not believing him, although he's cool with it all.
 

Holi has just one question though: how did the real Star Saber know to come back? Well, as soon as the unification manual was taken, it sent a signal out to him as he'd rigged it up so he'd always know where the manual was and so he'd know that it was always safe. The narrator then ends the episode explaining that Leozack's scheme has failed once again but the Decepticons will surely be back with another plot, so the Autobots must fight on and end the Decepticon's evil ambitions.

This episode may have have been inspired from the season 2 episode of the original series "A Prime Problem" as both involve the Decepticons sending in a fake Autobot leader to cause confusion and havoc to the Autobots forces. How each episode plays out is very different, however.

At one point, Blacker's head is drawn totally wrong and he looks a lot like Ironhide. This surely means that Blacker is actually a rebuilt Ironhide in disguise.
